ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Martin McDonagh was born on March 26, 1970. He is a British-Irish playwright, screenwriter, producer and director. His first six plays, separated into two trilogies all take place in County Galway which is where he spent his holidays as a child. His first non-Irish play was called The Pillowman, which premiered at the Royal National Theatre in 2003. His first play to be set in the United States, A Behanding in Spokane was premiered on Broadway in March of 2010. Martin McDonagh has been nominated for four Academy Awards, winning one for the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film.
ABOUT THE PLAY
The Lieutenant of Inishmore by Martin Mcdonagh is set in 1993 in Ireland. The play surrounds the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA), they have the job to assassinate a renegade terrorist, Mad Pradriac. To lure him out to his native home, the Inishmore, three INLA men decided to kill what he loves most – his black cat, Wee Tomans. Upon finding this out, Padriac is determined to have revenge even if that means killing his own father. When he is about to kill his father there is an unexpected knock on the door.
