Mississauga is home to an impressive array of local musicians, particularly singer-songwriters, who channel their stories, emotions, and experiences into their music, creating deep connections with their audiences.
On Friday, August 30, 2024, at the Rec Room Square One, six of these talented individuals will come together for a night of intimate performances. Glimpse Into The Heart of a Singer-Songwriter LIVE, organized by Rob Aguiar of Glimpse Productions, offers an opportunity for audiences to experience the vulnerability and personal stories of these musicians.
“Music has always been my anchor for me. More specifically, lyrics keep me grounded in times of struggle and uncertainty,” says Rob Aguiar about the importance of organizing the event. “This music showcase is about more than just the melodies; it’s about celebrating the vulnerability within a lyric that has the power to bridge hearts, stories, and emotions. It’s about the raw honesty of songwriting. Through song we find unity and strength. A song has the power to remind us of our shared experiences. Supporting local artists is much more than promotion, it’s the amplification of the power of art that heals and brings people together. Let’s change the world one song at a time.”
Rob, who has been interviewing local singer-songwriters throughout the year through his Glimpse Into The Heart of a Singer-Songwriter series with Modern Mississauga, is bringing this initiative from the page to the stage, allowing audiences to connect with these artists in a whole new way.
The night will begin with pre-show entertainment by flutist Natalie G. The main event will feature an “in the round” showcase of music and storytelling with artists Melanie Cabral, Cassidy Taylor, and Andrew Wilson. Rising hard rock/alternative star VILIVANT will perform her powerful songs in a rare acoustic performance.
The show will then spotlight some of Mississauga’s top stars. Country artist Alessia Cohle will take the stage to deliver uplifting tunes, and headliner Matt Zaddy, a soul/folk singer-songwriter, will close out the night with a full band performance of heartfelt originals and covers.
