Local Port Credit resident and jewellery maker, Yvette Ferguson, quit her job of 20 years to pursue her dream of having a venue to showcase her work and that of fellow artisans.
Artisan Place, located at 47 Lakeshore Rd East, Port Credit opened its doors for business on August 28th, 2021. The opening ceremony and ribbon cutting was attended by Stephen Dasko Councillor Ward 1 along with many of the store’s artisans. Dasko, a big supporter of the arts, commented that the arts have been hit hard during the pandemic and Artisan Place is a welcome addition to the Port Credit arts community.
Yvette had never made a piece of jewellery until she was furloughed in the spring of 2020 due to the pandemic. What started as a hobby soon became an online business called Artsy Jewelry Canada. A year later when the world started opening up, she realised that an online presence only went so far and she dreamed of having a store of her own. Having lived in Port Credit for 7 years she searched for a local commercial property that could provide space for her work and that of other artisans. She found it and within six weeks of getting the keys and putting in a lot of hard work, Artisan Place opened.

I hope Artisan Place will be around for many years to come”
