Living Hyphen and the Peel Art Gallery, Museum, and Archives are looking for artists, poets, musicians, and performers who currently live/used to live in Mississauga, Caledon, and/or Brampton to share their stories of finding (or not finding!) home, community, and belonging in Peel Region.
This call is to celebrate the opening of the new exhibition Stories of Home: Finding Community and Belonging in Peel, which examines the newcomer experience in Peel and Canada. As hyphenated individuals who call the nation-state of “Canada” home, but who also have roots elsewhere, we invite you to explore your migration journey and how it felt to lay roots in Peel.
We encourage newcomers to apply for this opportunity. You are a vital part of this vibrant community’s past, present, and future and we want to showcase, document, and archive the stories of Peel’s diverse communities!
We will be providing a $75 honorarium for all selected performers. Performers must be available for our storytelling celebration on June 2 at PAMA from 2-4 pm. We encourage all forms of creative sharing including but not limited to song, dance, spoken word, comedy, and storytelling. Tell us how you want to share your story!
Deadline to apply is April 25.
