Mississauga, ON – June 21, 2024
by Lejla Pepeljak
World Music Day, on June 21, is dedicated to music and open to everyone. This joyous concept is the essence of Fête de la Musique, a French tradition that has become a global phenomenon.
Born in 1982 under the guide of the French Ministry of Culture, Fête de la Musique (translated as “Make Music Day”) was set for a specific and symbolic date: June 21, the summer solstice and it is reflective of the festival’s spirit of vibrancy and the long, energetic days of summer.
Here in Mississauga, we can also join in on the fun! Mississauga throws its hat into the ring with events like “Bridging the Borders: Through the Ages Fundraiser” showcasing local up-and-coming musicians, or the Museum Mississauga concert series, featuring stunning backdrops like Benares Historic House. So, keep an eye out – you might just discover a new event right in your own neighbourhood!
