Children, youth, and families are invited to use natural elements to create unique instruments. From rain makers made from stones to sticks and rocks as drum kits – children can watch their local park become a playground for music.
The first half of the workshop will be run by STEPS where we’ll explore the waterfront area and make simple instruments made of found objects. After the instruments are made, a drummer class will be led by drum circle facilitator Samuel Liu from @DRUM IN.
Bring your favourite “Found Sound” items!
Feel free to bring along keychains, Tupperware, dog toys, or any other items that make interesting sounds. Let’s add an extra layer of fun and excitement to our gathering.
These “Found Sound” treasures will not only entertain us but also spark conversations and create moments of joy. Share your unique taste and showcase your personality with the sounds that make your heart sing.
If you have any questions, reach out to us. We’re here to make this gathering a remarkable experience for all.
Rain Date: Saturday, September 2nd, 2023 (registrants will be notified if this event is postponed due to weather).
Note: Activities are taking place across three neighbourhoods (Downtown Core, Cooksville, and Port Credit). Please take note of the exact location before registering and attending this event.
