Connecting Mississauga to the arts, and the arts to Mississauga and beyond
Join Martys HUBLearn basic crochet techniques that will set the foundation to build your own crochet coral reef.
Taught by zero-waste textile artist, craftivist, educator and winner of the AGM 2021 Juried Show Curators Choice Award, Sandra Clarke.
Using chain stitch, single crochet, and double crochet, you will be able to start at least one coral reef and have the knowledge to start designing your own coral reef masterpiece. This nature based and meditative crochet technique is easy to learn and remember without a complicated pattern. The technique can also be used to embellish other crochet projects and create a dynamic 3D scarf.
This class will start with a brief slide show presentation explaining the origins of the technique and how it inspired a global movement of bringing attention to climate change and coral reefs.
Links to further information and websites will be provided for you to view after the class at your leisure.
Materials needed for this class; one skein (ball) of worsted weight yarn and the crochet hook size recommended on the yarn label.
