It is the story of the Fort MacMurray fires as told through the eyes of the animals in the forest and in the town that were impacted by the horrible fires that destroyed the community of Fort McMurray in 2016.  On May 3, a wildfire swept through the community, forcing the largest wildfire evacuation in Alberta’s history, with upwards of 88,000 people forced from their homes. The film tells the story, which is told by a cast of animated characters voiced by an all-star cast who gave their time for free,  the animals that were also impacted by this devastating fire.
It features an all star cast of Hollywood and Canadian stars who offered their voices for free to support this cause. This includes the last performance by Ed Asner who passed away shortly after the film was made. Other notable stars include Kim Bassinger, Martin Short, Lorne Cardinal, Howie Mandel, Gordon Pinsent, Michael J Fox, Tantoo Cardinal, and many others.
This special screening and panel are focused on mental health and wellness, on the journey of healing that had to happen after these terrible fires. Its also about rebuilding lives, and communities, as thousands of people in the community MacMurray were left without homes.
Tickets are FREE to the public and there are 430 + seats at OCPA for this event. The ticket link is here:Â https://offa.ca/product/films/back-home-again/
