A thrilling, live, dance-theatre performance inspired by War of the Worlds by HG Wells.
Imagine….
You are sitting in a massive arena, and it’s completely dark. Suddenly flashlights gleam and flicker, casting odd shadows on the wooden ceiling. A radio crackles. Dancers emerge from the gloom; they dart past as an announcer’s voice begins to speak urgently, rhythmically. Welcome to War of the Worlds Reimagined.
War of the Worlds Reimagined welcomes you back to live theatre with a large cast of 16 performers, who bring our story to life. They dance to radio voices and music – a collage of sound combining Frog in Hand’s 2020 War of the Worlds radio play with the classic Orson Wells radio drama from 1938. This site-specific dance production explores crisis and upheaval, engaging audiences in an urgent dialogue about the future we share. Using science fiction and memory to provoke conversation about the unknown, War of the Worlds Reimagined celebrates resilience while acknowledging we have travelled to a place from which we can never return.
