Mississauga-based theatre company SAWITRI Theatre presents its first foray into full-fledged
comedy with LOL!2022 From November 11-13 and November 16-20, a double header will take
the stage every night, including stand-up comedy from headliner Ali Hassan (HBO Max, CBC,
SiriusXM) alongside Anto Chan, Nour Hadidi, Evan Carter, Leonard Chan, Harpreet,
Al Val, Clif Knight, Anthony Engelbrecht, Dena Jackson, and Ryan Dillon.
Ali Hassan’s DOES THIS TASTE FUNNY? – Deconstructing a chef’s journey from
food to comedy. Ali Hassan’s career plans started off as simply as anyone’s: become a chef, get
a food show on television, get a second food show on television, be the face of the network and
have oven mitts with his face on them. But sometimes things get in the way of your dreams:
like your parents’ disappointment, your family of four children and your successful comedy
career. This show is a hilarious exposition of Ali’s journey in and out of the culinary world in
which he spent 12 years. Think Eat, Pray, Love….minus the Prayer.
Sex T-Rex Comedy will also remount their award-winning sketch comedy revue, Sketch T-
Rex (Patrons’ Pick Award, 2022 Toronto Fringe; Best of Fest, 2019 Toronto Sketchfest).
Sketch T-Rex is created and performed by Sex T-Rex: Conor Bradbury, Julian Frid,
Kaitlin Morrow, Seann Murray.
