About The Play

English is about four Iranian adults in the year 2008 who meet up tri-weekly and are preparing for a “test of English as a foreign language” in their English language as a secondary language class that has one rule: English only. All four have different motivations; one has an impending green card interview, another wishes to be able to communicate with their Canadian granddaughter, another wishes to go to an Australian medical school and finally one has just always liked the language and wishes to learn it. Some cling to their mother language while others embrace the change.
