During July a new exhibit in our virtual gallery, State of Equanimity, invites you to leave all the hustle & bustle behind and venture to lake country. Brenda LaRose loves northern Ontario, the stunning landscapes provide her with endless inspiration that inform many of her paintings.

“Equanimity is the evenness of mind, especially under stress.  It allows us to stand in the midst of conflict or crisis balanced, grounded and centred.  It helps us stay upright in the face of the strong winds of conflict and crisis, like the trees and rocks stay solid in the face of the harsh northern climate,” quotes LaRose. Being out in nature helps this artist cultivate and practice mindfulness. Through painting, LaRose experiences that same mindfulness and peacefulness needed to handle life’s storms and struggles.

Her favourite paintings have always been landscapes. “I have become passionate about sharing my love for landscapes like the awe-inspiring beauty of the lakes and woods around Whitestone Lake.  I love to head out in my kayak with my camera, especially first thing in the morning, to explore the lake and capture it’s beauty,” says LaRose.  www.artsonthecredit.ca/gallery
