SUMMER CONCERT SERIES – Little Peter and the Elegants

The Summer Concert Series returns to Port Credit Memorial Park, 32 Stavebank Rd., on Sunday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 during July and August.

Little Peter and the Elegants is an 8-piece band and is truly based in Port Credit. The original band members attended Port Credit Secondary School and performed for the first time at the school’s Christmas Concert in December 1973. It was a time of nostalgia with the stage musical Grease in 1972, the movie American Graffiti in 1973 and the TV show Happy Days in 1974. It is hoped that some of the band’s original members will attend the July 3 concert celebrating the band’s 50th anniversary!

The current band line-up has been together for roughly 10 years. Even though the band members have changed over the years, what remains the same is their love of the music from the 50s, 60s and early 70s with a focus on vocal harmonies! An 8-member band is considered rather large. 3 singers are backed by a keyboard, guitar, bass, sax and drums. The band members take turns singing lead and offering backing harmonies. The band covers vocal groups such as The Platters, Dion and the Belmonts and The Beach Boys as well as solo artists like Elvis Presley, Fats Domino and Glen Campbell. The music the band plays is enjoyed by all ages-truly a “generation bridge”!

In 2020 The Mississauga News Readers Choice Awards named the band “Best Local Band” and in 2021 named the band “Best Local Entertainment”.
