Connecting Mississauga to the arts, and the arts to Mississauga and beyond
Join Martys HUBLittle Peter and the Elegants is an 8-piece band and is truly based in Port Credit. The original band members attended Port Credit Secondary School and performed for the first time at the school’s Christmas Concert in December 1973. It was a time of nostalgia with the stage musical Grease in 1972, the movie American Graffiti in 1973 and the TV show Happy Days in 1974. Some of the original members will attend the September 1 concert celebrating the band’s 50th anniversary!
The current band line-up has been together for roughly 12 years. Even though the band members have changed over the years, what remains the same is their love of the music from the 50s, 60s and early 70s with a focus on vocal harmonies! An 8-member band is considered rather large. 3 singers are backed by musicians on keyboard, guitar, bass, sax and drums, 4 of whom also sing. The band members take turns singing lead and offering backing harmonies. The band covers vocal groups such as The Platters, Dion and the Belmonts and The Beach Boys as well as solo artists like Elvis Presley, Fats Domino and Roy Orbison. The music the band plays is enjoyed by all ages-the band is truly a “generation bridge”!
