The Artistic Viewpoint

You are invited to an Opening Reception of SOVA’s show, The Artistic Viewpoint, Sunday afternoon, March 30 from 1:30 – 3:30 pm, in the Helson Gallery at the Halton Hills Culture Centre in Georgetown.  Opening remarks are at 2:00 pm followed by a Conversation Circle with Walk ‘n Talk through the show.

With all 14 members of the Southern Ontario Visual Arts group having pieces in this show, it is a wonderful opportunity to take in a full view, The Artistic Viewpoint, of an eclectic group of fourteen artists who have become friends over the years and a formal exhibition group.  As artist member Michelle Eissler has observed, “Artistic Expression occurs when the artist seeks to depict not only objective reality, but rather the subjective emotions and responses to objects and events.”

With strong ties to their local communities, these award-winning artists include: Robert Chisholm, Angela Burden, and Daureen Murphy from the Orangeville area, Lynden Cowan, Helen Duplassie, Margaret Pardy, and Connie Munson of Brampton, Michelle Eissler of Alliston, Lynne Schumacher of Owen Sound, Joanne Lomas of Wassauga Beach, Janice Ykema and Steve Wilson, formerly of Inglewood, now residing in Niagara Falls, Charlene Nickels in Prince Edward Island, and Joanna Turlej of Oakville. Many of the SOVA members have studios at the Alton Mill Arts Centre and along with several others are members of the Headwaters Arts Collective at the Mill.

Lynden Cowan, a founding member, comments on the level of professionalism in the group;” (they) constantly expand the personal boundaries of their skills and are never satisfied with the mundane.” Individually, they exhibit extensively, winning awards and accolades, with some of them showing their work internationally.”

With live music and light refreshments, lively conversations and beautiful art to enjoy in this historic building, do come out to be inspired and refreshed by their view, The Artistic Viewpoint.
