Connecting Mississauga to the arts, and the arts to Mississauga and beyond
Join Martys HUBIn this reflective workshop, artist Tiina Salo-Devries invites you to explore the emotional landscape of loss and memory associated with the objects we’ve had to leave behind. Whether lost in moving or left behind in our homelands, these objects hold significant emotional weight, representing the lives and stories we’ve carried with us.
Participants will engage in a group discussion to share the stories of these important objects—their significance, the regret of leaving them behind, and the memories they evoke. Through this shared dialogue, we will delve into these lost items’ impact on our identities and sense of belonging.
Following the discussion, we will channel these emotions into a creative exercise. Using collage techniques or mind mapping, participants will visually express the essence of their missing objects. We will explore various aspects such as colour, shape, functionality, and the feelings associated with the object’s use or memory, creating a unique and personal representation of what was left behind.
This workshop is generously funded by TD Bank Group, Rama Gaming House Mississauga and Charitable Gaming Community Good.
