Mississauga Arts Council (MAC)’s newly launched Sauga Neighbourhood Arts Program (SNAP!) provides funding for neighbourhood arts projects across Mississauga in celebration of the city’s 50th anniversary!
There’s much to celebrate in Mississauga and MAC wants to help you and your organization to do just that. If you are hosting or thinking of hosting any community arts based events up until November of 2024, this is your chance to take advantage of SNAP!.
Sample projects might include community activations or creative placemaking such as:
Neighbourhood Beautifications
- Murals on walls, sidewalks, and utility boxes
- Public picnic tables, seating, benches
- Community planters
Concerts/Performances/Theatre/Poetry
- Street party/dance
- Concert, performance, poetry slam, or theatrical performance in a local park or at a local venue
Visual Arts
- Host a pop up exhibition in malls, community centres, parks, etc.
- Create meaningful workshops inspired by the 50th
Film
- Film nights, film festivals in parks or at local venues
MAC wants to invest and support your event financially through SNAP!, while your organization supports and celebrates the community. Funding of up to $5000 will be available based on project needs.
You must be registering on behalf of an Arts Group/Organization, Festival, Service/Community Group, and/or Neighbourhood Association based in Mississauga in order to qualify for funding. This program is only applicable to groups and not individuals so this is the perfect opportunity for arts organizations to take advantage!
If you have any of the above happening in the next few months or want to launch something not mentioned, be sure to consider applying for SNAP!. Arts and Culture is a major highlight for the city and MAC wants to celebrate that. Remember, projects must take place in Mississauga and serve artists and residents of Mississauga.
