“Musicians needed! Volunteers are needed at all three Osler hospitals: Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital and Peel Memorial Centre
Volunteers will be providing musical entertainment for visitors, patients and staff on a grand piano in the main lobby or in the Acute Care for the Elderly unit. Other instruments are welcome! By sharing your time, you can help patients relax, recover and restore in a comforting and enjoyable environment. If you’re interested, we hope you’ll consider joining us. This is an unpaid, volunteer position.

This program exemplifies our Vision for ‘patient-inspired healthcare without boundaries’ by contributing to service excellence and is an excellent volunteering opportunity for anyone who would like to share their musical talents. You can request a certificate once you have completed 60 hours of service and a reference after 100 hours of service.
Qualifications
- The minimum age to volunteer is 15 (at the time of application)
- Fluent in English both verbal and written, additional languages may be beneficial
- Discreet, empathetic behavior and ability to exercise diplomacy in talking to patients, patient’s family and staff
- Must perform an audition
- Must be dependable and committed to scheduled shifts, or provide alternative availability to substitute absences
- A minimum time commitment of one agreed shift per week, 60 hours is required
- Zero-tolerance for breach of confidentiality and/or theft
- Must adhere to all Osler policies Minimum Grade six piano level or equivalent experience
- Must display confidence playing in public”
