About William
William Leathers is a 22 year old musician and Juilliard graduate student from Mississauga. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Fendi Vanguard Award and a Sylva Gelber Music Foundation Award. William has performed across Canada, the U.S., the U.K., and the Caribbean. He is the fourth Canadian classical trumpeter to attend The Juilliard School and has studied with Christopher Martin, Raymond Mase, Chris Cigolea, James Thompson, Guy Few, and Howard Leathers.
In February 2022, William was appointed as principal trumpet of the Nashville Symphony after a successful blind audition and was also recently invited to be a member of the 2022 National Brass Ensemble. In March 2022, he made his Broadway debut in The Music Man on Broadway, starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster. William is a proud recipient of a Kovner Fellowship at the Juilliard School.
