The Zombies, an English psychedelic rock band formed in 1962 that went on to help define ’60s music both at home and in North America, will slide into the Living Arts Centre (LAC) in Mississauga for a show in June.

The Rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Famers will launch a 30-city or so Life is a Merry-go-Round Tour across the U.S. and Canada in April, stopping in Mississauga on June 22 to play the LAC’s Hammerson Hall. Show time is 8 p.m.

Tickets cost $60 to $90 and go on sale this Friday (Jan. 28) at 9 a.m. online and at 11 a.m. at the LAC box office.

The iconic group, inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019, consists of original members Rod Argent (keyboard, vocals) and Colin Blunstone (vocals) in addition to Soren Koch, Steve Rodford and Tom Toomey.

The Zombies dropped a British and American hit in 1964 with She’s Not There. In the U.S., two subsequent singles–Tell Her No (1965) and Time of the Season (1968)–were also highly successful.

Time of the Season, which introduced the term “Who’s your Daddy?” into the cultural lexicon, sits at #349 on Rolling Stone’s 500 Best Songs of All Time.

In addition, the group’s 1968 album, Odessey and Oracle, is #100 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Time of the Season, widely recognized as one of the defining songs of the psychedelic era, is the closing track on the album.

Rolling Stone has described The Zombies’ live performances as “absolutely triumphant.” They take audiences on a journey through time, from their early hits up to today with Still Got That Hunger, released in 2015 as the band’s sixth studio album.”
