Job Summary

Responsible for greeting patrons, delivering consistent customer experiences, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for all events

Duties and Responsibilities

This position encompasses a multitude of different roles included (but not limited to):

Ticket Taking

  • Greets patrons, receives and process tickets, verify credentials, distribute programs and other giveaways as required.
  • Use hand-scanning device to validate barcodes on tickets.
  • Monitors patrons arriving to ensure safety and adherence to entrance policies – work with security when present.
  • Maintains clear and safe pathways for patrons into and out of the facility.

Parking

  • Monitors parking lots/garage and road ways ensuring safe arrival/or departure for patrons to and from the facility.
  • Verify credentials for those accessing secure lots
  • Provides directions to box office and entrances for arriving patrons.

Ushering

  • Greets patrons – assists patrons in to find their seats and ensuring all patrons have appropriate tickets for their seating location.
  • Monitors patrons as well as performance for hazards and assist where needed to ensure the safety and comfort of patrons.
  • Inspects assigned location for lost and found items and picking up of larger garbage items – cups/bottles, programs, food wrappers.

Other

  • Provides directional assistance and guidance to amenities throughout the facility
  • Monitors patron conduct and report any unruly behaviour to supervisory staff 
  • Ensures a safe environment throughout the facility, monitor emergency exits.
  • Assists guests with special requirements
  • Performs crowd control management functions
  • Reports unsafe conditions or situations to supervisory staff
  • Ensures patron compliance with facility policies
  • Use of two-way handheld radio to communicate with staff
  • Provides assistance in emergency situations such as patron health issues, safety hazards, or evacuations.
  • Enforces Front of House standard operating procedures including, but not limited to latecomer entry, food & beverage, recording video, and camera prohibition.
  • Reads, understands and abides by the City’s Divisional Standards, Corporate Policies and Procedures.
  • Essential duties of this position includes standing for extended periods of time, walking, bending, climbing stairs and lifting.
  • Work environment can include being outdoors, in a parking garage, in a low lite and/or high noise location.  
  • Performs other related duties as required.
     

Skills and Qualifications

  • Hold a valid Emergency First Aid Certificate / CPR”B” certification,
  • Smart Serve Certification is highly recommended. 
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills in a fast-paced, high pressure environment
  • Able to work independently as well as with a team
  • Familiarity with the City of Mississauga and tourist attractions considered an asset. 
  • Must be able to work flexible/late hours, including weeknights, weekends and holidays.
  • Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Criminal Records Search, Vulnerable Sector Screening, which is acceptable to the City of Mississauga
     

Hourly Rate/Salary: $15.27-$16.98 
Hours of Work: up to 20 hours
