About Saying It With Flowers
Canadian Community Arts Initiative (CCAI) and Mississauga Arts Council (MAC) join hands to bring an afternoon of fine art, music, delectable High Tea treats, and special guests to celebrate the artistic culture of Mississauga and the Region of Peel. The flower art show inspired by this year’s Year of The Garden with paintings by noted Mississauga artists.

Asma Mahmood is the founding director and Artistic Director of Canadian Community Arts Initiative and director for Mosaic Festival. With her profound knowledge in curatorial practices, Asma will delve into the life of Mary Hiester Reid, best known as a painter of floral still life some of them called “devastatingly expressive.”

Frankie Flowers is a 4 x best selling gardening author, award winning garden designer, morning weather guy on Canada’s #1 morning show Breakfast Television and proud father of 2 amazing boys. Frankie will take us through his time in the Netherlands with a beautiful presentation titled the “Art of Gardening in the Netherlands.”
Ikebana demonstration by:
Aya Sugino is an Ikebana artist, born in Japan, and based in Toronto, where she has been teaching Ikebana since 2010 and also working as an interior designer. Aya blended her Ikebana skills with her experience as an interior designer, bringing about a perfect marriage of her two passions. A live demonstration of three iconic ikebana arrangements by Aya Sugino.
