“After being closed for over a year for renovations, a local Mississauga theatre will once again open its doors and raise its curtains.
Meadowvale Theatre is hosting a reopening event Saturday, Sept. 24 where visitors can explore the newly renovated spaces in the building and enjoy free food and activities.
The theatre, which originally opened in 1989, has been undergoing extensive renovations since May 2021 aiming to improve signage and reduce congestion in the concession and box office areas during shows, among other changes.
A number of classic shows are scheduled to begin at the theatre in November, starting with a production of “42nd Street,” which is about a young, aspiring performer’s journey to land her big break.
That show begins Nov. 4 and will be offered in evening and matinee performances.
A performance of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” will also take to the stage at the theatre starting Nov. 25.
The Sept. 24 open house is taking place from 12 noon to 4 p.m. and includes a free community barbecue hosted by retiring local councillor Pat Saito.
According to a news release from the city, there will also be actors in character at the open to entertain guests.
Tickets for the upcoming shows are available through EncoreSeries.ca.
