Streetsville event celebrating its 50th anniversary

“A summer staple is returning to this Mississauga community.
The Streetsville Founders’ Bread & Honey Festival is returning in person for the first time in two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The festival is celebrating its 50th year, after being started by the promotion committee for the Town of Streetsville back in 1973.
Hazel McCallion’s late husband, Sam, was the charter president when the event was incorporated in 1974.
The event’s mascot, “Same the bee” honours his legacy in the community.
The festival started out to celebrate the flour mills and little apiaries operating in the community at the time and has blossomed into a daylong event with live music, food trucks, vendors, a midway and beer garden.
The event starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday June 4, and runs until 5 p.m. There are also fireworks in the evening starting at 9:45 p.m.
The event will be happening on a portion of Queen Street South, which will be closed for the day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
