ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
This workshop aims to teach block making using art foam blocks or moo carve blocks. The handmade blocks will be used to print fabrics. The blocks can later be used for printing on other materials such as greeting cards, bags, T Shirts and other mediums. The session includes a walk through on Indian Block printing techniques and practices along with a showcase of materials and printed fabric swatches.
MATERIALS
Fabric – 13” x13 “ – 2 pieces of cotton, art block or moo carve block, a cutter, fabric paints ( any two colours) sponge to dab paints, old cloth or paper for cleaning, few sheets of paper for practice.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR
Susha Suresh is the designer and founder of Advika, a clothing brand based in Chennai, India and is an Assistant professor at the Department of Textile Design at one of the pioneering design institutions in India. She works closely with artisans and craftspeople to develop designs for wooden blocks and printed textiles used for apparel and houseware. Suresh’s design language is inspired by Indian art, architecture and culture.
