They are currently pursuing a Master of Social Work at York University, holding a Bachelor of Social Work and an Indigenous Knowledges and Experiences Certificate from Toronto Metropolitan University. Kaitlyn's practice includes anti-oppressive, strengths-based, and trauma-focused care, with a strong emphasis on decolonization, Indigenization, and cultural safety. Kaitlyn's artistic journey was nurtured from a very young age by their mother, aunties, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Following ancestral traditions, they practice various artistic modalities, including beading, sewing, painting, and drawing. Kaitlyn uses art as a potent healing tool, integrating it with mental health and cultural practices to challenge oppressive systems. Their art creates spaces that promote decolonization and cultural safety, supporting Indigenous kin in healing and celebrating their identities. Driven by a passion for fostering Indigenous intergenerational healing, Kaitlyn aims to create nurturing environments where Indigenous kin can thrive and be proud of their Indigeneity. They are guided by a deep connection to Spirit, kin, ancestors, and the Land. Kaitlyn is committed to providing accessible, culturally safe mental health supports for Indigenous communities, striving to bridge the service gaps they have experienced.
