Searching for meaning in our roots leading up to Asian Heritage Month ❤️
Leading up to Asian Heritage Month in Canada, Chinese Canadian indie folk musician Tennyson King is sharing a live acoustic video for the single ‘This Life’ off his new album Good Company. The song is inspired by his afternoon dim sum chats with his grandmother in Hong Kong.
“Prior to COVID, I spent a lot of time touring in Hong Kong and during those trips, I was really trying to find myself by understanding my Chinese heritage. I would spend time with my 嫲嫲 (grandma) asking her questions about our family and just her thoughts on life. She passed last year, and I am now even more grateful that I had those special moments with her to get to learn more about her life and our culture.” Watch below!
This Life is produced and recorded by Juno nominee Ross Hayes Citrullo in Toronto, ON and features Darcy Yates (Bahamas) on bass. It is reminiscent of a Neil Young song, with a driving beat and a catchy melodic guitar line. Lyrics that capture thoughts of a man simply trying to find his place in this crazy world.
